Saying au revoir

Well here goes.

Finally away.  It’s been both a quick six months and a long time coming.

A nice send-off at work, great to see people come along to my farewell and thanks, too, for the Toke - a treasured gift and to Matu for the accompanying blessing. I hope it brings me home safely.

First, a farewell to Carolann and a few of our kids.

Belle - the matriarch (but still Mum's little girl)

The chooks - in the blueberry paddock
Yes, that is mist in the background, a 3 degree morning before I left.

our one cow milking stall with Maddie our house cow
(oh, yes, worth mentioning for the uninitiated, a house cow is a single milking cow you milk for your own consumption...not one you let in the house!)

The sheep - we have four which we use for wool

waiting for breakfast (yes, the are spoilt)

The main kids Wilma (our ginger nut - and anyoness for a cuddle) and Fred (loyal, friendly and a bit of  basic bloke - bit like his Dad really!)

Although its been a mild winter - the mornings before I left were around3-5 degrees Celsius (better than some of the frosts we got last year at this time).
First stop Sydney (stopover) then on to Bangkok.

Not sure what the theme music for a departure is though, perhaps somewhat apt that I have a song rattling around my head – Tom Pettty’s “into the great wide open” (next stanza better  “…a rebel without a clue!).
